Justin Townes Earle Performs on Friday, too

March 12th, 2010 | By Don

The Blind Willie McTell Blues Festival has added a second night for Justin Townes Earle.

He’ll perform Fri., May 14, at Sky City in Augusta and will then perform the next day in Thomson at the McTell fest.

We’ve looked forward to working with Coco Rubio and the good folks at Sky City for some time. It’s a great nightclub, and we welcome them as a sponsor.

We’ll post more info here and on the Sky City Web site as we go along.

Better make plans for the whole weekend!

Little Feat to Headline

February 2nd, 2010 | By Don

Little Feat headlines at Blind Willie McTell Blues FestivalLittle Feat will be the headliner for the 17th Annual Blind Willie McTell Blues Festival on Sat., May 15, 2010, in Thomson, Ga.

Little Feat formed in 1969, and since then, their unconventional signature of earthy, organic appeal and polished, first-rate musicianship wrapped around eclectic and memorable songs — clearly delivered as an authentic labor of love — has been a lasting fixture on the musical landscape.

As American as apple pie and rock ‘n roll, Feat’s music transcends boundaries, a freewheeling fusion of California rock and Dixie-inflected funk-boogie. In the mix as well are strains of folk, blues, rockabilly, country and jazz, inventing a hybrid sound that is truly Little Feat’s own.

Also in the line up: Charlie Musselwhite, Delta Moon, Robert Moore and The Wild Cats, Odafe Trio, Magic Slim and the Tear Drops, Crosstie Walkers, and Justin Townes Earle.

Advance tickets can be purchased online at tixonline.com or by calling the Thomson-McDuffie County Tourism Department at 706.597.1000.
